Nes in Reykholtsdalur, Accommodation, Golf course and Restaurant

The farm Nes in Reykholtsdalur was established in 1937. It is located in the middle of the valley between the river Reykjadalsá and highway 518, with a view to Reykholt, the glaciers, and the mountains to the east.

Find accommodation at one of Iceland‘s farmer‘ s golf courses. Whether you stay to enjoy your favourite pastime or to simply relax after site-seeing around in this beautiful area; we have a place for you. We can provide information in English and Danish about the nature, history and life in the area.

Our guesthouse opened in 2009, a nine-hole golf course, Reykholtsdalsvöllur, in 2008. The Clubhouse includes a restaurant with seats for up to 60 guests.

Reykholtsdalsvöllur is the home course for the local golf club „Golf Club Skrifla“.

In the neighborhood visitors may find several interesting places for sightseeing, as well as historic spots, hot springs and bird-life along the river, waterfalls, lava caves, and more.

Three generations have lived on the farm Nes; first with mixed farming, and later dairying until 2006. The grassland is good, so the fields are used for haymaking.

The owner and host is Bjarni Guðráðsson.

There are two senior residential houses and one renewed house available for accommodation purposes at the farm Nes.

The older of the two houses (1A) was built in the style of the time in 1937. This house includes three rooms: one single, one with double bed and one triple (with three beds). The kitchen and bathroom are shared. Washbasins are in the rooms. Also is there one small single room without washbasin.

The younger of the two houses (1B) was built in 1957. This house has a total of three bedrooms with washbasins and other shared facilities. Two of the rooms has a double bed and one with two separate beds (twin). It also has a living room, kitchen and bathroom.

The renewed house (Gamla fjós) was originally built up 1950 and used as a cowshed for 40 years. It was renewed as a guesthouse with four double rooms (twin) 2017-2018. Each of the rooms has extra bathroom and possibility to heat te or coffie. Kitchen and living- or dining- room must be shared in house 1B.

Rooms are rented with made-up beds and breakfast, with access to the kitchen. Breakfast and admittance to hot bathpools is included in the room prices. Near the restaurant is a hot tub and natural hot bathpool loaded of stones.

Breakfast, drinks and snacks are served in the restaurant Byrgishóll.  Other meals, including dinner, are also available if booked in advance. In the restaurant is a Snooker table and possible to play that game.
